Interlaboratory Comparisons (ILCs)

National Accreditation Body of Indonesia (KAN) often give directives that if we want to determine the validity of the results externally, the first thing to do is to find a proficiency test provider. If no proficiency test organizer is found, the laboratory can carry out a Interlaboratory comparisons (ILCs). This is in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 regarding the validity of the results, ISO/IEC 17025 is useful for any organization that performs testing, sampling or calibration and wants reliable results. This includes all types of laboratories, whether they be owned and operated by government, industry or, in fact, any other organization.

ISO 17025 Interlaboratory comparisons (ILCs) is done to assess the extent of likeness in the results produced by various laboratories using the same method. Likewise, it equates to the performance and evaluation of calibration/test results for a similar item by different laboratories in line with prearranged conditions.

PT Biometrik Riset Indonesia always participates in Interlaboratory Comparisons (ILCs) activities. In practice, it consists in:

  • Sending to a sufficient number of laboratories a series of samples as similar as possible
  • Running a series of tests by all participating laboratories
  • Determining a reference value to be found for the test results
  • Evaluating the difference between the results of each laboratory and the reference value
  • And concluding a level of confidence in the outcome of the test

Each participating laboratory may well know the difference between the test results it produces and the reference value ("the value which was to be found"). The results are transmitted to it confidentially. If the results obtained are distorted or outlier then internal corrective action must be implemented. During the Biometrik Inter-laboratory Comparison test (ILCs) we always get results that meet the requirements, so the validity of our results is guaranteed.
